Extra Blog!

We spoke about the Khan Academy some weeks ago and it was featured on 60 minutes on Sunday. Use the link below to view the article. They are piloting schools in California where they are flipping the classroom. The students view the Khan videos in the evenings and then practice the concepts at school. Looks interesting!

Week 9 Blog Web 2.0 Tools

Last week we looked at several 2.0 tools for the classroom. Below are a couple that I liked!

#1
Q-codes in the classroom

Below is a QR code. The way to use this in your classroom would be to make a scavenger hunt using the QR codes. You would place the QR codes around the school and students would scan each code and record their answers. Or the answer could lead them to another QR code and so on.

#2
Wordle
Below is a Wordle picture with words relating to the US Constitution. The way I would use this in my classroom is to use it as an activating activity on the Constitution. This would be a deductive lesson where the students go from knowing exactly what they are looking at to brainstorming and coming to the conclusion it has to do with the constitution.
